What are the advantages of LED spotlight lamps over traditional incandescent bulbs?
A LED spot light lamp (or LED spot light bulb) is a solid-state lamp that uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as the source of light. A LED spotlight lamp offers long service life and high energy efficiency but however initial costs come slightly higher than those of fluorescent and incandescent lamps.
Chemical decomposition of LED chips reduces luminous flux over life cycle as with conventional lamps. Spotlight LED lamps can be made interchangeable with other types of lamps. Assemblies of high power light-emitting diodes can be used to replace incandescent or fluorescent lamps. Some LED spotlight lamps are made with identical bases so that they are directly interchangeable with incandescent bulbs. LED spot lamps are used for both general and special-purpose lighting.
So what really makes these lamps special or better than the usual types of lamps?
Compared to fluorescent bulbs, advantages claimed for LED light bulbs are that they contain no mercury in which the Compact fluorescent lamp or CFL do. In addition they turn on instantly, and that lifetime is unaffected by cycling on and off, so that they are well suited for light fixtures where bulbs are often turned on and off. They are also mechanically robust; most other artificial light sources are fragile.
At present, incandescent bulbs lamps and fluorescent lamps are used as light sources are old, traditional gas vacuum type light sources with poor reliability and durability and a low luminous efficiency. In the past electric circuits are made of bulky glass vacuum tubes in spite of poor reliability and durability
